I’ve read your book twice and in a few short hours after the first read, I figured out that I need to do a faith-based type program/conference in the Austin area during the summer of 2014. I made a few calls Saturday afternoon and my trusted advisors said they were truly waiting on me to stop making excuses and do some faith-based/spirituality work. It is I a fit for me because I’ve been going to school on the side and I’ve completed two certifications to be a lay speaker in the Methodist church. Again, I have been sitting on doing something with those certifications and after reading your book, I finally figured it out.
So- in June of 2014 the first Uplift conference will launch.
On a personal level, I have been reflecting on the portion of the book where you talk about my relationship with time. Wow. I’ve been truly pondering this question and it has given me great pause. Today I woke up with a more positive relationship with time. I did work this morning then went to the lake with my journal and sketched out an outline for my conference. I took time literally listening to myself breathing, meditated and then went back to my home office. My mind was clear and I made a list of what sabotages my time. I shut down today at 3pm to read and reflect and now I’m typing this to you before I play a game with my kiddo. What a wake-up call.
The other ah ha moment (although there are too many to write from your book) is the idea of truly thinking through who is my ideal client. The clients that got me to a place of success won’t be the ones that take me forward and rightfully so. I’ve been doing a revisit to my core values and now more than ever I want to make sure that the clients I take on are aligned with my values. I lost sight of that for a while. Again, your book brought that into focus for me.
I could ramble on and on, but the truth is your book is a game changer for me. I am so proud to even know you. And, I want you to know that you have allowed me to redesign the familiar in my life in just a few short days and I already feel an increase in my well-being.”
